OUR CONGREGATION

Zion Presbyterian Church was organized as a Preaching Station of the US Presbytery of the Free Church of Scotland (Continuing) in August 2023. In May 2024 the Preaching Station was raised to a Fully-Sanctioned Charge by an act of General Assembly.

The government of our church is Presbyterian. This means that each congregation elects their office-bearers & minister to pastor them as was the case in the churches of the New Testament. These elders then group together in local church courts called Presbyteries. We also have regional Synods and a church-wide General Assembly.

The congregation is under the care of assessor elders from Cornerstone Presbyterian Church and Greenville Presbyterian Church until such a time as local church officers are elected.

This church is faithfully committed to the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament as the infallible Word of God, and adheres to the glorious truths of the Bible, recovered at the Reformation, and confessed by the historic Reformed Church in Scotland in the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms.

We seek to faithfully labor in Fredericksburg and the surrounding counties to proclaim the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and whatsoever He commands.

Rev. Romesh “Rom” Prakashpalan is married to Maegan and they have four children. Rom was raised as a Hindu and became an atheist early in life. The Lord called him to faith through hearing the gospel in 2009 (Romans 10:17). Soon after, he felt a call to the gospel ministry. He graduated from the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary (RPTS) in 2020 with an MDiv. From July 2020 to April 2024 Pastor Rom was the minister of the Dallas RPCNA.

LORD'S DAY WORSHIP

The morning and evening worship services consist of the singing, reading, and preaching of the Word of God. Our congregation sings from the Scottish Psalter. Examples of congregational singing can be heard here.

God’s Word is the foundation for every aspect of worship and the reading of Scriptures is an integral part of our service. Passages from the Old and New Testaments are read during worship to emphasize the prepared message.

The traditional reformed worship service is many times unfamiliar to those who are visiting. We invite you to come and join us and to learn more about what we believe concerning the worship of God.

Also, we invite all visitors to join us for a lunch fellowship following the morning worship service every Lord’s Day. Food is provided by the congregation at large.
